A selection of acoustic folk songs for the soul

“I hope these songs create a space for you to feel inspired, to find a soft landing place, and to know that you are amazing, exactly as you are. My intention is to share acoustic folk songs that heal our hearts and illuminate our way to deep connection – within ourselves, with others and with the Earth.”

“Kate channels an uplifting musical presence with an empowering message of reverence to spirit, culture, the sacred feminine and nature.”

Album Review – Anthony Gebhardt, BlankGC Magazine

The 8 track album Rebirth Dreaming marks Kate’s first step in a new trajectory – as a solo artist, which continues to be a collaborative exploration in sound and harmony. The cover art for Rebirth Dreaming was painted by amazing local artist Jazz Watson. The theme was inspired by the concept of a tree as the central piece, with nature and people sitting around a fire. Jazz also channelled the story of my young friend Angus who inspired the albums title song through an artwork of his own by the same name. Angus was an inspiration to many and lives on always, dancing and smiling, in our hearts.

“Rebirth Dreaming seeks to explore the totality of the human experience and welcome it all. There are uplifting messages about moving from the past and thriving forward, being more of who you are, and of relating to other humans with deep compassion. As listeners, we are inspired into caring for and connecting with ourselves, into better custodianship of the environment and reminded about the others out there who dream of a better world too.”

Leopold’s Treat

The band has four core members, being Kate Leopold, Kieran Richardt (slide guitar, yidaki), Dave Honeyman (acoustic melodies) and Neil Macleod (flute, harmonica, bass clarinet). They describe their music as ‘experimental acoustic folk’, seeing dynamic rhythms intertwined with emotive slide guitar and bright acoustic melodies. Kate Leopold delivers powerful vocals that are at times reflective or energizing and somewhat soothing…
